About our monkeypox testing service

Monkeypox is an infectious disease and should be treated as a public health concern. At Nao Medical we offer a swab testing service to test if you’re positive for monkeypox.
Your medical provider will swab your rash or sore that’s suspected to be monkeypox. The sample will then be sent to the lab and your results will be available in 24-48 hours.

Before you get tested for monkeypox
Please book your appointment ahead of time so that we can prepare a private room for your testing session. Once you arrive for your appointment, you’ll need to stay in your car until you’re retrieved by a medical provider.
Your medical provider will escort you to the testing room, and then your swab test will be done there. This CDC approved procedure helps to ensure the safety of both yourself and others.

Before booking your appointment, please note:

Ensure that your insurance benefits include urgent care or contact us to confirm if your individual/group insurance plan is eligible for use. Please dial 911 immediately if your medical problem appears to be life-threatening.

FAQ

What are the common Monkeypox symptoms?

The most common symptoms of Monkeypox are as follows: If you are infected with Monkeypox, you will experience:

  • Pimples/blisters – like a rash that can be painful and/or itchy. It usually goes through several stages (blister/pimple, scabbing, healing). The rash can be present in any area of the body, but is most commonly on or near the genitals or anus. It also can be present on the hands, feet, chest, face, and mouth.
  • Systemic symptoms such as fever, chills, swollen lymph nodes, exhaustion, muscle aches, headaches, respiratory symptoms

How is Monkeypox transmitted?

Monkeypox is mainly transmitted to humans through close contact with an infected person or animal or with material that has been contaminated with the virus. Intimate contact or skin-to-skin contact can be classified as:

  • Directly touching the rash/scab/body fluids of a person with Monkeypox (sexual contact, hugging, massaging, kissing)
  • Touching objects, fabrics, surfaces that someone with Monkeypox has used
  • Contact with the respiratory secretions of a person with Monkeypox
  • Or the virus can also be spread during pregnancy through the placenta.

What is the difference between emergency and urgent care?

The difference between emergency and urgent care is that emergency rooms in hospitals treat life-threatening conditions and injuries, whereas urgent care clinics treat illnesses and injuries that require immediate medical attention but are non-life-threatening.

Are your urgent care centers open after hours?

Yes. Most of our urgent care centers are open after hours, making health care more accessible for all residents in NYC.

Can I pay for urgent care appointment without insurance?

If you have no insurance, we provide our services without insurance for self-pay patients, giving you the care when you need it most.

My daughter came in with stomach pain, and your doctor was able to diagnose that she probably had appendicitis. I took her to the emergency room, and she did have to have her appendix removed. Thank you so much for your help.

The staff and the doctors were all very kind and caring. I was very worried about my child’s health. I appreciate your clinic being open on Saturdays. This saved us a trip to the ER, which can be scary for a child. Thank you again!

My visits have been fantastic both times I’ve gone. The woman at the front desk was courteous and professional, and prompt. The nurse was excellent. Same treatment as the front desk and the smoothest phlebotomist going. The doctor was great, calm, thorough, polite, and knowledgeable. I wish he were my GP. Overall? 11 out of 10.
