FAQ

When should you go to emergency care for a headache?

You should get emergency care for a headache when it happens suddenly and if it prevents you from performing simple daily activities. Other indications that you should seek emergency care is when a headache is accompanied by fever, difficulty walking, numbing, blurred vision, and slurred speech.

How do I know if my headache is serious?

A headache may be serious if it’s sudden and very intense, also called a thunderclap headache. Other serious signs are stiff neck, high fever, nausea and vomiting, nosebleed, loss of balance, and fainting.

What are the four types of headaches?

The four common types of headaches are sinus, tension, migraine, and cluster.

What is the main cause of headaches?

The main cause of headaches is when there’s a chemical activity in the brain, nerves and blood vessels around the skull, or in the muscles of your head and neck. There’s also genetic evidence that makes people more likely to experience headaches than others.

Is it normal to have headaches everyday?

Daily headaches aren’t normal but are often not serious. However, it’s still highly recommended to have it checked and tested to make sure that it isn’t a symptom of something more serious.

What is the difference between emergency and urgent care?

The difference between emergency and urgent care is that emergency rooms in hospitals treat life-threatening conditions and injuries, whereas urgent care clinics treat illnesses and injuries that require immediate medical attention but are non-life-threatening.

Are your urgent care centers open after hours?

Yes. Most of our urgent care centers are open after hours, making health care more accessible for all residents in NYC.

Should I make an appointment for urgent care?

Not necessarily. Most urgent cares accept walk-in patients. But if you want shorter wait times, you can book an appointment through phone or online.

Can I go to urgent care for non-emergency?

Yes. You can go to urgent care for consultations, physicals, primary care, lab tests, and more.

Can I pay for urgent care appointment without insurance?

If you have no insurance, we provide our services without insurance for self-pay patients, giving you the care when you need it most.

I’ve been to Nao Medical, I think, three times, and their staff is delightful. If you are in dire pain, they take you in as soon as possible, if not sooner. The offices and exam rooms are spotless. All of the medical staff is very knowledgeable, patient, and understanding. I highly recommend it.

My visits have been fantastic both times I’ve gone. The woman at the front desk was courteous and professional, and prompt. The nurse was excellent. Same treatment as the front desk and the smoothest phlebotomist going. The doctor was great, calm, thorough, polite, and knowledgeable. I wish he were my GP. Overall? 11 out of 10.

The staff and the doctors were all very kind and caring. I was very worried about my child’s health. I appreciate your clinic being open on Saturdays. This saved us a trip to the ER, which can be scary for a child. Thank you again!

My daughter came in with stomach pain, and your doctor was able to diagnose that she probably had appendicitis. I took her to the emergency room, and she did have to have her appendix removed. Thank you so much for your help.
