What are the three types of concussions?
Concussions are classified into three types: grade 1 (mild), grade 2 (moderate), and grade 3 (severe).
Should I sleep after a concussion?
It’s okay to sleep after a concussion. In the past, patients were advised to stay awake so the doctors can check and monitor symptoms. Today, thanks to technology, doctors can monitor a patient’s concussion using sophisticated imaging techniques and modern medical equipment.
What will a doctor do for a concussion?
For a minor concussion, your doctor may advise you to physically and mentally rest to speed up recovery. Some medication may be prescribed to manage pain. For more severe concussions, you may be tested to determine how much damage there is and if medical treatment is necessary.
How do you test to see if you have a concussion?
To see if you have a concussion, your speech, vision, memory, brain processing, and reaction time will be tested. Once confirmed, the doctor may order MRI tests or CT scans to check for bruising or bleeding in the brain.
