How do you test magnesium levels?
Magnesium levels can be tested using a blood test. To do a total serum magnesium test, a healthcare worker will draw blood from a vein in your arm and send it to the laboratory for analysis.

The common symptoms of low magnesium levels are appetite loss, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, shaking, muscle spasms, pins and needles, sleepiness, weakness, and hyperexcitability.
What are the symptoms of high magnesium levels?
The usual symptoms of high magnesium levels are nausea, vomiting, very low blood pressure (hypotension), flushing, headache, and neurological disorders.
Who is most at risk for magnesium deficiency?
Women require 320 mg of magnesium daily while men require 420mg. Those who are at most risk of magnesium deficiency are older individuals because their bodies are less capable of absorbing magnesium but the kidneys excrete more of it.
